Postpartum Sibling Support

Welcoming a new baby is a big transition for older siblings. Growing Together sibling support provides extra care and attention for children while the family adjusts to life with their newborn.

Support takes place in the home alongside the family and focuses on helping siblings feel included, secure, and confident in their new role as a big brother or sister.

Care may include giving siblings individual attention through play and activities, maintaining familiar routines, preparing simple meals or snacks, and helping children express their feelings as they adjust to the changes that come with a new baby.

When age appropriate, siblings can also learn about caring for a baby in a fun and gentle way, such as helping with small tasks, understanding what babies need, and building excitement about welcoming their new sibling.

The goal is to help the entire family transition smoothly while ensuring siblings feel seen, supported, and connected during this special time.
