Privacy at a glance
The app is designed to store information locally on your device. The app does not require an account and does not send your information to Nurture and Connect Doula Services LLC. If you enter your name so the app can greet you, that name stays on your device and is never sent anywhere. We do not sell personal information, run behavioral advertising, or use third-party analytics. Any export or sharing action is initiated and controlled by you.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how The Birth Bag (the "App") handles information. It applies to the App published by Nurture and Connect Doula Services LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). It does not govern Apple's App Store, Google Play, iCloud, your device, or any service you choose when exporting or sharing information.
2. Information entered into the App
The App allows a doula or other adult user to create a local client session. Information entered may include a client name or identifier, labor start time, event timestamps, positions, comfort measures, notes, preferences, milestones, birth time, and a generated labor timeline or birth-story summary. You choose what to enter. We recommend using the minimum information needed for the intended purpose.
2a. Your name for the greeting
On first launch the App may ask for your name so it can greet you. This name is stored only in on-device storage on your phone. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party. You can change or remove it at any time from within the App.
3. How local session information is handled
Client-session information stays in storage controlled by the App on your device. The App does not maintain a publisher-operated account, server, or cloud database for this information, and we do not receive, view, or retain client-session content.
4. Information we do not collect or sell
We do not collect contact lists, precise location, health records, advertising identifiers, browsing activity, or client-session content. We do not sell or rent personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Device storage and backups
Local storage reduces transmission of sensitive information, but it does not make the device risk-free. You are responsible for protecting your device with a passcode, biometric lock, current software, and appropriate access controls. Your device's operating system or backup settings may include App data in an encrypted backup. Those backups are controlled by Apple or Google and your device settings, not by us.
6. Exporting and sharing
The App may allow you to copy, download, or share a labor timeline or birth-story summary. The App does not share a record unless you start that action. Once information is sent elsewhere, that destination's privacy practices apply. Before sharing: confirm the recipient, review for accuracy, obtain the client's permission, and remove details the recipient does not need.
7. Retention and deletion
Session information remains on the device until you delete the record through the App controls or delete the App. Copies in device backups or previously exported files must be managed separately.
8. App store purchases
Apple and Google process purchases and downloads. We do not receive payment-card details.
9. Notifications and permissions
If the App offers timers or reminders and you enable notifications, your device controls the permission and delivery. The App does not require access to contacts, photos, microphone, camera, precise location, or health data.
10. Sensitive information and client permission
Labor-session details can be sensitive. Obtain appropriate permission from the client, limit identifiers, and follow your professional obligations. The App is a support and documentation aid, not an electronic medical record or substitute for clinical documentation.
11. Security
We use a local-first design to reduce unnecessary data transfer. No storage method is completely secure. A lost, shared, or unlocked device may expose locally stored information.
12. Third-party links and advertising
The App does not contain advertising or affiliate links. If a future version adds third-party technology, we will update this Policy before that feature is used.
13. Children
The App is intended for adult professional users and is not directed to children under 13.
14. Changes and contact
We may update this Policy when the App's features change. For privacy questions, contact Nurture and Connect Doula Services LLC at 517-749-1027.
